Needing to be crowned…

Posted in From Al & Libbie, General, Prayer Requests at 3:16 pm by Libbie

Dear Friends,

A quick prayer request unrelated to Al’s melanoma.

I (Libbie) have to have a tooth crowned that I cracked apart back in February (the day after we learned Al’s definitive diagnosis of melanoma). For some reason my body sometimes doesn’t respond to Novocain. I’ve experienced that in other places besides in my teeth, but that’s where it most frequently poses a problem. This has been an ongoing problem for years–sometimes the Novocain works fine the first time, and sometimes it just won’t take.

Our dentist is superb and also a wonderful woman, with the legendary patience of Job, and when I have to have dental work done she hangs in there with me and doggedly tries to subdue my uncooperative nerves. Today was a good example. I went in at 11, and three hours later, after 6 total shots of two different kinds of novacaine, when the doctor had missed her lunch and who knows what else, the necessary nerves were still not numb enough to allow drilling. So she gave me some advice about how to keep my jaw muscles from spasming from all the shots, and we scheduled another appointment to try again.

Now, I know that it is possible to get my lower left jaw numb, because she did it last summer when I had another tooth crowned. So, would you please pray that when I go back on Wednesday, the Novocain would be effective? Thank you! I appreciate you helping me out in this.

As we sang this song this morning and heart cried out to God that this would be true for you and your family
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.
His mercies never come to an end.
    They are new every morning,
    New every morning,
Great is thy faithfulness, Oh Lord.
    Great is thy faithfulness.”
