In the last hour, the 50,000th visitor came to this blog to check out how Al, Libbie and the family are doing. I mention this not to just be excited about a tally in the internet world, but because those numbers are an indication of the incredible relationships that Al and Libbie have developed and nurtured over the years. And those relationships cover the globe. We can see visitors from just about every continent (no penguins checking in yet).

Thanks to all of you for visiting the blog, for leaving comments, for praying and encouraging. Every one of you is important. And thanks also to Al and Libbie for being willing to be transparent and candid and allow so many to feel like they (we) are a part of their journey. Thanks also to Alasdair (& Lauren), Rebeckah, Eowyn and Alden for sharing your parents with us.

Please continue to visit and leave comments. Thanks for all the love you have sent (and will continue to send) to the Groves family.

Well, here’s 50,001! Joe and I have been so grateful that we have the gift of sharing with you via the blog. (We’ve passed this site along to a friend in Manila with end-stage lung cancer. He has teen girls so we’ve appreciated that your kids have shared their thoughts, also.) Libbie, a while back you signed off with something like “Thanks for riding the river with us” and since then I have been singing that Julie Miller (?) song we sang at church.

“There is a river where mercy flows. I’m going to follow where it flows…
There is a fountain that will cleanse all those who wash there from all sins…
There is a refuge for wounded souls where broken hearts can be made whole…
There was a death that empties tombs. There was a scar that heals all wounds…
There is one name that leads us home. It is none other than Christ alone!”

So, friends, thank you for giving yourselves to students and others and for pointing us to Jesus in your pain. The Lord has used you all to encourage my faith and to give me more of a longing for Jesus and heaven. We prayed that you would have a precious Thanksgiving time as a family. Much love from PR, Bev and gang

I keep you and your family in my daily thoughts and prayers.
Your courage and strength is phenomenal, as a family and as individuals.
May God continue to watch over you and bless you.

Many many months ago I discovered your web site while reading Greg Hewlett’s site. My daddy was ill with cancer at the time and I spent a great deal of time on the internet trying to find information to help him. Sadly, we lost him four months ago. I have been praying for your family and will continue to do so. Cancer is so very hard on everyone involved. Your family is very brave and so giving allowing others to share in your journey. God bless you.
